03/01/2026
The investment will include the construction of a new treatment plant and the installation of a new 2600-cubic-foot autoclave to increase production and add an alternative treatment option. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2027.
“Carpenter Pole and Piling is deeply committed to serving and strengthening our local community. We proudly support our local police and sheriff departments, as well as our fire department, recognizing the essential role they play in keeping our families safe. We also invest in the next generation by sponsoring recreational ball leagues and contributing to educational opportunities, including support for private and public schools. Carpenter has contributed to the improvements at the local airport, helping enhance infrastructures that benefit economic development. As a locally rooted business, we believe in giving back to the community that has supported us for years, and we remain dedicated to making a positive and lasting impact both on and off the job site,” Carpenter Pole and Piling Company President Preston Carpenter said.
To support the project the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. Stone County also is assisting with the project.
“Carpenter Pole and Piling isn’t just expanding—the company is reinvesting in Mississippi because, after nearly 40 years of doing business here, the Carpenter team knows this is a state where they can confidently grow and succeed. This expansion brings jobs and opportunity to Stone County and sends a bold message that Mississippi delivers, every time. MDA is proud to support Carpenter Pole and Piling as the company prepares for four more generations of doing business in South Mississippi,” noted Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork.
Carpenter Pole & Piling supplies quality treated utility poles, foundation pilings, and marine pilings for commercial, large residential, and infrastructure projects. The company specializes in producing Southern Yellow Pine utility poles and foundation and marine pilings serving municipalities, power companies, contractors, and international customers.
“The Stone County Economic Development Partnership is proud to celebrate this latest expansion announcement by Carpenters, which reflects the overall confidence in the local business climate and workforce. Their continued growth reinforces Stone County’s position as a competitive location for industry, and we are excited to continue supporting their company every step of the way,” added Stone County Economic Development Partnership Executive Director Layla Essary.
