German Manufacturer Building Solar Mirror Plant in Pennsylvania

09/03/2008
Flabeg, a German manufacturer of commercial glass and mirror applications, will build a solar mirror production facility in Findlay Township, Pennsylvania, with a $30 million investment. More than 300 new manufacturing jobs are planned with the project, a 209,000-square-foot manufacturing plant that will produce high-precision parabolic mirrors used to generate power at large-scale solar power plants. Construction should begin next month, with full production expected in October 2009. Flabeg already operates a plant in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania, that manufactures mirror glass for automobiles. The state has provided $9 million in incentives to the company, including $2.7 million in grants, $5 million in loans, and $900,000 in job creation tax credits, according to the Pennsylvania governor's office.
