VSPOne Sacramento Adds Manufacturing Facility in Folsom, California
01/23/2014
VSP Optics, a VSP Global company, provides a broad range of ophthalmic products and services to the VSP network of 30,000 eye doctors through VSPOne Optical Technology Centers. The company also develops and markets UNITY, its proprietary branded premium ophthalmic lenses and coatings.
The new facility in Folsom is expected to be completed and operational by November. The expansion comes in response to current facilities reaching their maximum capacities, adding to a larger network of VSP Optics facilities located throughout the United States, including other locations in the State of California, Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization said. The relocation and expansion plan will add 200-250 new union employees to VSPOne Sacramento’s employment rolls. In addition to the increased production capacity, the facility will have improved training rooms and other employee amenities.
“We are pleased to welcome VSP to Folsom,” said Folsom City Manager Evert Palmer. “VSP demonstrates a tremendous commitment to excellence not only in its customer products and services, but also in its unparalleled employee programs. The VSP Optical Group is a perfect match to the 95630 lifestyle in Folsom, and we are pleased they have chosen Folsom to continue to build their success.”
“Changes in federal health care laws as well as ongoing technological advancements in the optical industry have led to a tremendous growth cycle for VSP,” said SACTO Chair Gary Bradus, Shareholder with Weintraub Tobin. “The region is proud to serve as its headquarters and looks forward to the company’s continued success here and throughout the world.”
“As a leading employer in the Sacramento region, we are proud that growing our business also results in a 60 percent increase in job creation,” stated Dave Delle Donne, VP Business Development, VSP Optics Group. “This initiative will enable VSPOne Sacramento to conduct all of its manufacturing operations under one roof while increasing efficiency and production capabilities using the newest state-of-the-art equipment.”
“We applaud VSP’s decision to expand manufacturing operations and employment in the Sacramento Region,” said Kish Rajan, Director of the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development. “VSP is a vital and growing employer in California and a global leader in its respective fields of expertise.”
The project enlisted the assistance of many partners at both the state and local levels, including; SACTO, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, the California Employment Training Panel, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
