Ross Stores Plans Bakersfield, California, Distribution Operations

Off-price apparel and home retailer Ross Stores plans to establish operations in Bakersfield, California. The approximately $500 million project is expected to create roughly 1,000 jobs.

The investment will include the construction of a new 1.75 million-square-foot processing and distribution center. Operations are scheduled to begin by 2032.

“We are excited to expand our presence in the Greater Bakersfield area with the opening of a processing and distribution center in the city of Bakersfield,” said Ross Stores Executive Vice President of Supply Chain Rob Kummerer. “This facility will strengthen our operations, support continued growth and create new employment opportunities in the community. We are grateful for the partnership and support of the many state and local leaders whose collaboration helped make this project possible.”

Ross Stores is an off-price retailer of apparel, accessories, footwear, and home merchandise operating Ross Dress for Less and dd’s DISCOUNTS stores.
