Armstrong World Industries Investing $35M in Millwood, West Virginia, Ceiling Tile Site

10/26/2010
Armstrong World Industries, a maker of floor, ceiling, and cabinet products, has begun construction on a 30,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Millwood, West Virginia. The company is investing up to $35 million and will initially create 45 permanent jobs.

"By September 2011, there will be a new, state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly Mineral Fiber Plant located on this site," said Jackson County Development Authority Director Mark Whitley. "It is our sincere hope that this will be the foundation of even more future capital, job, and resources investments by Armstrong World Industry in our region."

The facility will make mineral wool fiber used in acoustic ceiling tiles. The site is located at the Jackson County Maritime and Industrial Center, formerly owned by Century Aluminum. The proximity to that company's smelter and feedstock material used in production attracted Armstrong to the location.

Armstrong is eligible for tax credits and job training assistance. Additionally, the U.S. Economic Development Authority has extended a $1.7 million grant to improve site infrastructure.
