$210 Million Data Center Coming to Texas Along With 130 Jobs
11/07/2011
Austin-based Baryonyx Corp. owns WindData. Baryonyx's CEO Ian Hatton said the key drivers to the decision to develop future facilities in Pflugerville were "the city's proximity to the growing Austin business community and its location in a deregulated energy market."
The data center project has three development stages. Phase I includes $70 million of capital investment over three years and is contingent on 30 jobs (with health insurance benefits paying $67,500 annually). Phases II and III include an additional $140 million of capital investment, and are contingent upon an additional 100 jobs with the same requirements.
PEDC directors approved a three-phase incentive agreement based mostly on jobs creation. Hatton said tax assistance agreements must be finalized with Travis and Williamson counties before the company moves forward with the final build.
