02/26/2014
The company is improving the site infrastructure at its manufacturing plant in Elgin, South Carolina, adding equipment with computer controls to enable the company to better serve the chemical industry in a more environmentally responsible way. Part of a group of companies owned by the International Chemical Investors Group, WeylChem specializes in developing and producing products used in the agricultural and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in the development of polymers and specialty chemicals.
"This is a significant business expansion for WeylChem, highlighting our commitment to growth and continuous drive for innovation, customer satisfaction and business diversification. The added production capacity and infrastructure will improve our ability to handle a broader product mix and solidify an expanding specialty chemical business for our Elgin facility,” said CEO WeylChem U.S. Jeff Dugger.
“As we attract new companies to South Carolina, it’s incredibly important that we continue supporting the growth of those who have trusted and invested in South Carolina for years. We are proud to see WeylChem reaffirm its commitment in our state with a $10.8 million expansion that will bring 49 new jobs to South Carolina,” Governor Nikki Haley said.
“Since 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $10 billion in capital investment and more than 26,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector. Today, we see yet another boost to our manufacturing sector as WeylChem underscores South Carolina’s reputation as just right for global business,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said. All job openings with WeylChem are to be filled by the SC Workforce Center.
