Phoenix Metals Company To Invest $12 Million In Fort Smith, Arkansas Facility

04/05/2013
Phoenix Metals Company plans to build a $4 million on a state-of-the-art facility to expand its metal processing center and warehouse operations on 11 acres at Chaffee Crossing. The company will also invest approximately $8 million in new equipment for a combined $12 million dollar investment at its Fort Smith, Arkansas campus. Company officials said they plan to create up to 40 new jobs over the next three years.

“Phoenix Metals has been looking to add a service center somewhere along the I-40 corridor from Russellville to Tulsa to take care of our customers in that region. The Chaffee Crossing Development and the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce sold us on the Fort Smith Area. We are excited to become a part of the growing industrial development at Chaffee Crossing,” Don Gray, a branch manager for the firm, said.

The Fort Smith Regional Chamber, City of Fort Smith and the Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority worked together to secure this business for the River Valley. “Phoenix Metals decision to locate its processing center and warehouse operation in Fort Smith is a testament of our commitment to recruit high-tech businesses to this region. A Fortune 500 company of this quality locating its operation in Fort Smith is a win for both company and community.” said Tim Allen, President of the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Sandy Sanders commented, “We’re proud to add Phoenix Metals to the long list of outstanding businesses located in Fort Smith. The quality of our workforce, our low cost of doing business and the region’s cooperative attitude helped us land this nationally-known company in western Arkansas.”

“We are very excited about the Phoenix Metals announcement. In addition to the capital investment and job creation, it’s another statement by a national company that Chaffee Crossing, Fort Smith and the region is the place to expand and do business. Phoenix Metals will become a premier industrial neighbor within the Chaffee Crossing industrial development.” said Ivy Owen, CEO of Chaffee Crossing.
