Emerson Process Management Expands Its Rosemount Manufacturing Center In Shakopee, Minnesota
06/13/2013
Emerson Process Management’s Rosemount business is recognized for its pressure, temperature, flow, level and wireless measurement instrumentation. Emerson Process Management’s automation and instrumentation technologies are widely used in the oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical industries that are experiencing robust growth.
The new location will become Emerson’s global headquarters for Rosemount Measurement Technologies. This expansion, along with existing facilities in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen, will support a 10-year growth plan for Rosemount technologies and build on industry-leading delivery and service capabilities, the company said. State and local incentives will help finance the development of the facility, with additional support from the City of Shakopee, Scott County, Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District.
Emerson Process Management currently employs more than 2,000 employees who work in the Rosemount measurement business in the Eden Prairie-Chanhassen area.
“Our continued investments in innovation, combined with growing energy markets around the world, have fueled the need for more office and manufacturing space to meet the increasing demand for our products and services,” said Steve Sonnenberg, president of Emerson Process Management. “We are delighted to expand our operations here in Minnesota, which not only offers a quality workforce and excellent business climate, but also already serves as a major hub for Emerson in North America.”
Gov. Mark Dayton said, “We are deeply grateful to Emerson Process Management for its decision to invest further in Minnesota and create hundreds of new jobs here. We are pleased to provide an $815,000 state sales tax exemption to assist with this exciting project..”
As part of an incentive package the state approved approximately $3 million in state incentives that includes; sales tax exemptions on equipment and construction material purchase, a matching infrastructure grant of $1.2 million, a $400,000 Jobs Skills Partnership grant, and another $500,000 through the Minnesota Investment Fund grant. In addition, the city of Shakopee approved in incentives valued at $1.4 million, including; property tax abatements worth $590,496, a forgivable loan of $350,000, sewer availability charge credits worth $304,375, along with waived fees and charges. Scott County provided a $2.4 million property tax abatement and use of the county’s fiber optic network to link the proposed new plant with Rosemount’s two other local facilities.
