Google Plans $600 Million Expansion at Pryor, Oklahoma, Data Center

According to the Tulsa Regional Chamber, the project, which increases its staff to more than 500 in Pryor, is part of the internet services company's $13 billion investment to expand data centers across the United States.
Also Thursday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced a $6 "We’re proud to make another $600 million investment in the great community of Mayes County,” Pichai said in a statement.
"The Pryor Data Center is part of the engine that makes it possible for Google to help billions of people around the world. We look forward to being a part of this community for years to come."
Best-known for its vastly popular search engine, Google opened its campus at the MidAmerica Industrial Park near Pryor in 2011.
Google announced plans for the Oklahoma data center in 2007 and opened the initial $600 million facility four years later. It subsequently expanded the center in 2012, 2016 and 2018.
Google's data center in Mayes County is the company's second largest in the world, trailing only the one in Council Bluffs, Iowa, said Andrew Silvestri, Head of Public Policy and Community Development for Data Centers in the Americas.
"I am thrilled to see Google continue to invest in our state by expanding business, creating jobs and bringing innovation to industry," Governor Kevin Stitt said in a statement. "With an investment of over $3 billion, I look forward to seeing how the expansion of the Google data center will help diversify our strong economy and foster a pro-growth environment both in Mayes County and statewide."
Larry Lees is Pryor's mayor said, "Since Google announced they were coming to Mayes County more than a decade ago, they’ve reinvested in our local community in many ways including free public Wi-Fi in our downtown; STEM and art programs for our students; technology infrastructure for our higher-ed institutions; training for our small businesses, teachers and nonprofits; technology and mentors for our classrooms," he said in a statement.
"I’m so pleased Google is continuing its investment here. Those of us who live here know how special Pryor is, and we are glad Google sees that, as well,” the Mayor said. “For the city of Pryor, forward motion with Google and MidAmerica Industrial Park establishes a long-lasting partnership. Only the passing of time will measure its significance and its immense potential. On behalf of all Pryor citizens, I thank Google for the partnership and for their confidence in us. We are committed to doing our part."
