Blade Dynamics to Locate in New Orleans' Michoud Assembly Facility

Blade Dynamics is bringing 600 new jobs to the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans, Louisiana. The company, which produces wind turbine blades, will invest $13 million in the project. The jobs will be added in the coming five years.

"We see tremendous potential for our technology and are delighted to align ourselves with American Superconductor Corp. and The Dow Chemical Co.," said Theo Botha, company co-founder and sales director. "Our relationship with and the commitments from the state of Louisiana and NASA will also significantly impact the success of our operations and we are looking forward to furthering both of those relationships."

MAF's availability of specialized equipment, the presence of state work force organization Louisiana FastStart, and an incentives package attracted Blade to New Orleans. The company will receive a total of nearly $12 million in financial assistance.

MAF, an 832-acre site, is owned by NASA and is one of the world's largest manufacturing centers.
