Inward Investment Guides

What business couldn’t benefit by researching and adopting new technologies? The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) encourages businesses to evaluate new or underutilized power-related technologies through its Customer Advanced Technologies (CAT) program.

CAT offers funds to help customers set up demonstration projects focusing on a wide range of technologies, including LEDs and other lighting products, new concepts in heating and air conditioning systems, building envelopes, voltage regulators, induction lighting, and many others. In return, the program is allowed a two-year monitoring access agreement.

Participants are advised that this really is R&D, with the customer site being the laboratory. Some of the technologies work out and some don’t. In any case, the results are available online to help other businesses make informed choices about the technologies
