04/25/2026
Steel processor Marubeni-Itochu Steel America Inc. (MISA) plans to establish operations in Osceola, Arkansas. The more than $37 million project is expected to create 35 jobs in Mississippi County.

The investment will include the construction of an advanced flat-rolled steel processing facility located adjacent to Big River Steel that will produce steel for industries including automotive across the South-Central U.S.

“MISA Specialty Processing is thrilled to announce the opening of our newest facility in Mississippi County,” said Chris VanDeventer, President of MSP. “We look forward to becoming a long-term partner in the community and supporting the region’s continued growth.”

Marubeni-Itochu Steel America Inc. processes, distributes, and supplies steel and aluminum products for industrial applications. The company’s operations include metal sourcing, processing, supply chain management, and delivery to industries such as automotive, construction, and manufacturing.

“Mississippi County is becoming the epicenter of the American steel industry,” noted Clint O’Neal, Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “This project is another strong win that creates new jobs and strengthens the region’s industrial base.”

“From our skilled workforce to our strategic location, there’s a reason Mississippi County is recognized as an industrial powerhouse,” added Clif Chitwood, CEO of the Great River Economic Development Foundation. “We’re excited to welcome MISA to the ‘Land of Steel.’”
