Bristol Myers Squibb Plans Houston, Texas, Manufacturing Operations

Biopharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb plans to establish operations in Houston, Texas. The approximately $2.3 billion project is expected to create roughly 500 jobs.

The investment will include the construction of an approximately 600,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at Generation Park that will support the production of multiple types of medicines, including small molecules, biologics, and antibody-drug conjugates.

“Our decision to build this state-of-the-art manufacturing campus in Houston, Texas, reflects our confidence in the region’s ability to support a world-class, digitally advanced supply operation,” said Karin Shanahan, EVP, Chief Supply Chain and Operations Officer of Bristol Myers Squibb. “This facility is designed to deliver the speed, quality, and reliability that patients depend on, combining flexible, modular manufacturing with advanced digital capabilities to ensure consistent supply across multiple modalities. It strengthens our ability to operate with resilience and positions us to reliably deliver medicines to patients today while adapting future demands.”

To support the project a Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $4.89 million has been extended to Bristol Myers Squibb. The project is also a qualified project under the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation (JETI) program.

Bristol Myers Squibb develops treatments across therapeutic areas including oncology, hematology, immunology, cardiovascular disease, and neuroscience.
