Wood Products Manufacturer Investing $140M+ in North Carolina

08/05/2008
Uniboard Canada, Inc., a manufacturer of pressed wood products, will invest approximately $142 million to recondition an existing factory and build a new facility in Moncure, North Carolina. The project is expected to create more than 100 jobs over the next three years at an average annual salary of $45,303 plus benefits. The acquisition of the existing Moncure facility will retain 146 jobs at that site. "The acquisition of the Moncure facility is a reflection of Uniboard's long-term commitment to our customers, especially on the East Coast, and solidifies our offering in laminate flooring through our sister company Pergo, located in Raleigh," says James Hogg, the company's president and CEO. State and local incentives include a $250,000 grant and up to 80 percent property tax refunds over a five-year period, contingent on investment and job goals. Uniboard Canada is headquartered in Laval, Quebec, Canada and is a subsidiary of Germany-based Pfleiderer AG.
