Defense Training Firm Moving Its Headquarters to Twin Falls, Idaho

01/19/2012
LMS Defense, Inc. has announced plans to move its corporate headquarters to Twin Falls, Idaho.

Now based in Sparks, Nevada, this full-service defensive training and consulting firm provides instruction and specialized education to the U.S. military, law enforcement, corporations and security professionals. Every year it serves about 50 police departments and 30 U.S. Department of Defense military contracts, and teaches nearly 600 civilian students.

In February CEO John Chapman will start hiring a support staff of about 20 for the new location and is looking for four or five corporate-level employees as well, according to a story by the local Times-News. The newspaper also reported Chapman said the firm could hire up to 50 people at certain times of the year for temporary jobs.

LMS will invest about $600,000 to construct a headquarters and training center in Twin Falls County, noted the CEO, and is considering grants to fund some of the costs associated with the project.

"The deal-closer was the infrastructure that was already in place with the (College of Southern Idaho) and very supportive police departments," he said, adding that "there's a lot less red tape in Idaho." The central northwestern location of Twin Falls will allow LMS to better reach clients in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming.
