02/28/2017
In March, CWU will move into 10,000 square feet of space at Westshore Technology Center, 5402 W. Laurel Street in Tampa with an investment of $2.5 million in the new headquarters facility.
The company is moving 30 existing positions to Tampa and adding up to 20 new ones by 2018. The positions include executive, program management, human resources, legal, and accounting functions and pay an average wage of $78,600.
“CWU aspires to be the premier professional support services in the defense contracting industry,” said CWU Chairman and President Charles Jenkins. “Today, CWU is a $50 million critical staff augmentation company, a leading provider of professional support personnel. Forecasts project we will double our size over the next 24 months. We are excited to be moving our headquarters to Tampa.”
“Greater Tampa Bay is home to an abundance of colleges and universities in addition to the home of MacDill AFB. The I-4 Corridor has rapidly grown into the third largest defense contracting community in the US, and Tampa attracts a diverse and technologically-fluent employee base from some of the best local colleges, universities, and the military. We are excited to bring our headquarters to this dynamic and innovative city,” he added.
CWU employs 400 full-time and 250+ part-time personnel. In addition to its headquarters in Tampa, the company operates satellite offices in Mainz, Germany, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Bordentown, New Jersey, Augusta, Georgia, Savannah, Georgia, and the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
The Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation assisted CWU with connections to resource partners to assist with relocations for new employees recruited from outside of the area and identified training grant opportunities the company can utilize as they continue their growth.
“We are pleased to welcome CWU to Hillsborough County as they execute the next phase of their company’s growth strategy,” said Dr. Ken Atwater, Chairman of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and President of Hillsborough Community College. “Tampa offers CWU access to a deep pool of multilingual talent, close proximity to MacDill Air Force Base, and easy connectivity to global locations via Tampa International Airport. We are proud that they now call our city home to their corporate headquarters and offer our continued support of their efforts now and into the future.”
