John Deere Opens New Facility in Russia

04/28/2010
John Deere, based in Moline, Illinois, opened a new manufacturing and distribution facility yesterday in Domodedovo, Russia, a city outside Moscow. The plant will produce agricultural, construction, and forestry machinery, and distribute service parts in the region. The facility is the company's largest individual investment in Russia.

Deere Chairman and CEO Samuel Allen said Russia has "truly immense potential as a major provider of the renewable resources so vital to the world's economic and social well-being."

The plant will produce products for Deere's large tractors, construction and forestry products, and combines divisions. The combines are used for agricultural applications. The company also has a production factory in Orenburg and offices in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
