The plant will produce three of the company' s newest vehicle models: gasoline, hybrid, and hybrid vehicles."
"This investment allows us to produce the all-new Ford Fusion and the Lincoln MKZ line-ups, helping us to meet growing consumer demand," Fields said.
In the last ten years Ford has invested $3 billion in manufacturing facilities in Mexico. Ford's Fusion model has been produced in at its Hermosillo plant since 2005.
Commenting through a translator Mexico's President Felipe Calderon said Ford has helped to deliver new jobs in Mexico and raised the level of competitiveness for the company. He predicted expansion of the plant would help Mexico move from fifth to fourth place as a global vehicle exporter.
