Engility Corporation Invests $6.5 million On Virginia Headquarters
04/30/2012
Engility's headquarters will be in office space currently occupied by L-3 Communications in the Chantilly area of Fairfax County. The move is expected to create 50 new jobs.
Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell said "I am confident that the locality's strong professional workforce, favorable tax structure and proximity to the Department of Defense will enable the company to thrive in the Commonwealth."
"We enthusiastically welcome Engility Corporation to Virginia and Fairfax County," said Jim Cheng, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade. "New jobs and investment are always good news, and with this project we gain a new corporate headquarters and 50 new jobs that pay above the average prevailing wage in the area."
"We are very appreciative of Governor McDonnell, the Commonwealth and Fairfax County for this strong show of support. Our existing relationship with Virginia provides a solid foundation from which to launch our exciting future and enables us to fulfill our commitment to support our customers' missions," said Tony Smeraglinolo, Executive Vice President of L-3 Services, Inc., who will be appointed Engility's Chief Executive Officer upon completion of the spin-off.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia. As an incentive, Governor McDonnell approved a $350,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to assist Fairfax County with the project. Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide funding and services to support the Company's recruitment and training activities.
