Tech Packaging Invests More Than $12.4 Million To Expand Its Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, Production Facility
08/01/2013
Tech Packaging, Inc. recently purchased 32 acres of land in the Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania. The company prepares multi-packing of variety packs and pallet displays, variety packs of fruit drinks, pet food and potato chips. This is the second major jobs announcement at Humboldt Industrial Park in two months, bringing more than 460 jobs to the area.
“The Hazelton facility demonstrates our ongoing commitment for continuous improvement and is a testament to the relationships we have built with our customers,” Bob Janes, President of Tech Packaging, Inc. said. “This facility is a milestone in our long-term initiatives to maintain our position as a leader in our industry. We are excited to be able to contribute to the Hazelton economy and the community.”
As an incentive, the company received a funding offer from the Department of Community and Economic Development including a $250,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant and a $42,750 Guaranteed Free Training grant which will be used to train its new workforce.
“Keeping my administration’s commitment to more jobs and less taxes continues to send a strong message that the state is serious about job creation,” Gov. Tom Corbett said. “
The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team in collaboration with the CAN DO Inc., a private, non-profit industrial-economic development corporation serving the Greater Hazleton area.
“Although Tech Packaging considered other areas, company officials saw the many benefits of locating in Greater Hazleton and decided to construct their newest facility here,” Kevin O’Donnell, CAN DO President said. “With locations in Berwick and Hazle Township, Tech Packaging has demonstrated its commitment to northeastern Pennsylvania.”
