Philippine Software Exports Expected to Reach US$1B

08/14/2008
Exports of software from companies in the Philippines are poised to reach US$1 billion by 2010, according to a Philippine industry association. Agence France-Presse reports that the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) says its nation's software exports were $423 million in 2007, and that the industry has been seeing an increase in revenues of 30 percent each year for the past several years. The PSIA also says that Philippine software companies are just beginning to target smaller firms in the United States that are in the earliest stages of outsourcing their programming, product development, and research and development to offshore locations.
