Deepwater Wind Investing $1.5B in Quonset, Rhode Island Facility
09/13/2010
"This is much more than an energy project," said Rhode Island Governor Donald L. Carcieri. "This is about creating a new industry in Rhode Island; an industry that puts Rhode Island at the epicenter of the emerging alternative energy market."
The Deepwater facility will produce support structures for wind turbines and towers, and serve all of the company's Northeast projects.
The U.S. Department of Energy granted Quonset a $22.3 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant as a result of the Deepwater project.
