Custom Engineered Wheels Expands Manufacturing Plant In Baldwyn, Mississippi
11/16/2016
Following a fire at its Tupelo facility in June, Custom Engineered Wheels will relocate to the Southern Motion facility in Baldwyn in Prentiss County. The move allows the company to retain its 65 existing employees and add 20 new jobs over the next couple of years. Custom Engineered Wheels plans to begin operations at the new location in early 2017.
“Mississippi’s support in assisting Custom Engineered Wheels rebuilding locally after a tragic fire has been critical to our employees, our customers and the company as a whole. The opportunity Mississippi has helped provide to maintain our skilled workforce and build upon the significant capital investment is critical to the company’s long term success,” said Custom Engineered Wheels President Jason Peters. “We are excited about the future and the partnership Mississippi provides Custom Engineered Wheels.”
As an incentive, the Mississippi Development Authority provided guidance on available tax opportunities. The city of Baldwyn and Prentiss County are providing property tax abatements. The Tennessee Valley Authority is providing assistance, as well.
“Custom Engineered Wheels’ expansion will have a positive effect on the region’s economy for years to come. I wish the Custom Engineered Wheels team many years of success at the new Baldwyn location,” Governor Phil Bryant said.
“Custom Engineered Wheels’ decision to expand is evidence of Mississippi’s positive business climate for existing companies,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We appreciate Custom Engineered Wheels’ expansion and salute the teamwork of the Prentiss County Development Association, the city of Baldwyn, Prentiss County and TVA, which helped make this expansion possible.”
