Meritor Expands York, South Carolina, Manufacturing Plant
02/21/2018
Located at 801 Railroad Avenue in York, Meritor will be launching a new air disc brake caliper assembly line and a housing assembly line to support its growing air disc brake business.
As an incentive, The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $100,000 Closing Fund grant to York County to assist with the costs of building upfits.
“Meritor has a long and proud history in York, South Carolina. York represents our largest brake footprint in North America, and we look forward to expanding it even further to support the company’s leadership position in commercial vehicle brakes,” Meritor Senior Vice President Chris Villavarayan said.
“Our state is leading the way in economic development, and Meritor’s expansion in York County is yet another testament to that. South Carolina’s robust manufacturing sector continues to be invaluable to our economy, and I look forward to watching Meritor continue to thrive here for many years to come,” said Governor Henry McMaster.
