Toronto, Canada's Firan Technology Group Receives More Than $5M from Province

07/07/2010
The government of Ontario, Canada is helping Toronto-based Firan Technology Group (FTG) expand its technologies and create jobs. The aerospace company will use the province's $5.11 million contribution to support the more than $17 million project, creating 30 jobs and retaining 50 additional positions.

FTG will develop new advanced materials and other technologies for printed circuit boards in aircrafts. The smaller, lighter electronics will make air travel safer and more efficient.

"We greatly appreciate the government's support to help manufacturers succeed in the face of the high Canadian dollar, a changing economy, and strong competition. FTG feels confident it has the skilled work force to offer innovative, high-tech solutions for the aerospace sector," said Bradley Bourne, president, CEO, and director of FTG.

Ontario's aerospace and defense sector employs approximately 19,000 people and records annual sales of roughly $4 billion.
