Voss Automotive Plans to build North American Headquarters In Fort Wayne, Indiana
10/15/2012
"Fort Wayne and the State of Indiana have been instrumental in helping us serve our customers and expand our business in North America," stated Eduardo Vultorius, CEO of VOSS. "The combination of a great location and a skilled, motivated and hardworking workforce will continue to help VOSS secure growth and success for many years to come."
The firm plans to purchase property and build its campus in the 4700 block of Hillegas Road, which will include 25,000 square feet of office space and a 10,000 square foot manufacturing hub that will house a fully equipped design validation lab and prototype shop.
Voss said its new facility will include environmentally friendly design elements such as High R value insulation, as well as a geothermal ground-loop heat exchanger system, which will reduce the buildings heating and cooling loads. Furthermore, a sophisticated interior lighting control system with daylight harvesting and motion sensors will be installed along with an automated exterior blind system that adjusts to the movement of the sun and clouds to reduce energy usage.
The Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance said the success VOSS has had in Fort Wayne has allowed the company to add 19 positions over the past year, with plans to hire an additional 20 salaried positions with compensation that is considered above average in the state. Construction of the new facility is scheduled to begin at the end of 2012.
The City of Fort Wayne, WorkOne Northeast, and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation worked with local company officials to ensure the German based Automotive Company remained in Fort Wayne. As an incentive, the company is currently awaiting approval for a ten year incentive package with a grand total of $1.7 million.
"The City is excited to have an international company choose Fort Wayne for its North American headquarters," stated Mayor Tom Henry. "Our ongoing relationship and open dialog with local company executives allowed us to address specific needs to retain this Fort Wayne business."
