Canadian Multimatic Inc. Creating 200 Jobs in Butler, Indiana

11/16/2010
Multimatic Inc., an auto part maker with headquarters in Toronto, Canada, is expanding in Butler, Indiana, with the creation of more than 200 jobs by 2013. The company, which produces auto mechanisms, welded assemblies, and suspension components, and designs and develops auto body and chassis systems, will add assembly lines and invest in machinery at its 224,000-square-foot Butler facility.

"Although originally viewed as a short term, distressed supplier situation, through the efforts of many, including the associates at the Butler facility, the IEDC [Indiana Economic Development Corporation], Dekalb County, and the city of Butler, Multimatic has not only committed to Indiana but is growing our business at the Butler manufacturing facility," said Pat Amlinger of Multimatic's Structures and Suspension Group.

The IEDC offered Multimatic Indiana up to $1.5 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $48,500 in training grants. The city of Butler will provide additional property tax abatement at the request of the Dekalb County Economic Development Partnership.
