SCD Probiotics Investing More Than $9M in Kansas City, Missouri
02/10/2011
"SCD Probiotics is pleased to announce our company's growth and expansion plans and our commitment to the state of Missouri," said Matthew Wood, CEO of SCD Probiotics. "The state's assistance is an important factor for SCD Probiotics to continue to be part of the Kansas City urban area, where our manufacturing facility has been operating since 2004."
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon authorized $1.4 million in incentives towards the expansion. The package includes aid from the state's Enhanced Enterprise Zone program, Customized Training program, Recruitment Assistance program, Development Tax Credit program, and the Missouri Technology Corporation. SCD is seeking property tax abatement from Kansas City and efficiency incentives from Kansas City Power and Light.
The company anticipates requiring up to 57,000 additional square feet of space to accommodate its growth plans. It makes more than 80 percent of its sales internationally.
