02/11/2013
The plant will make a variety of deck, aggregate and paving trailers used to carry equipment and materials used in construction, including sand, gravel, asphalt and similar materials, Chatham-Kent Economic Development officials said.
“The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has worked closely with Cross Country Manufacturing to support their relocation and expansion plans. We are thrilled to celebrate Cross Country’s success today,” said Mayor Randy Hope.
“Cross Country Manufacturing is very proud of our achievements,” said Company President Jonathan Doerksen. “We have successfully launched several new trailer models across North America over the past seven years, and we will continue to grow by offering our customers a superior product produced by a quality workforce.”
Cross Country Manufacturing is a nationwide leader in aggregate trailer manufacturing having developed specialized design and technology leader with a wide product-offering within the industry. “We make trailers for the construction industry and we excel at it,” said Doerksen. “We can’t wait to begin production in our new Blenheim facility.”
“The investment in the Blenheim facility speaks volumes to the confidence and the value that Cross Country Manufacturing places in its staff,” said Director of Economic Development Services Michael Burton. “Cross Country will benefit from a hardworking, talented team of skilled workers.”
The expansion plans in Blenheim will allow the company to expand production to meet the growing demand for aggregate trailers. “With the projected production increases, Cross Country Manufacturing will be expanding its workforce to the tune of approximately 100 positions,” said Burton. “We are thrilled to have them come to the community.” Positions include general labourers, welders, trailer assemblers, sandblasters and painters, as well as management and administrative staff.
