Pharma Manufacturer Plans $80M Indiana Expansion

Cook Pharmica, a contract provider of manufacturing services to the biotech pharmaceutical industry, will invest $80 million to expand its Bloomington, Indiana, facility for what it terms "Project Eos," the incorporation of formulation, filling, and finishing operations into its current manufacturing and development capabilities. The company's current campus has more than 600,000 square feet available for the expansion, which is expected to create approximately 200 new professional, hourly, and management jobs when full operations begin in early 2010. The expansion is expected to include such leading-edge technologies as electron-beam sterilization and isolators. Cook Pharmica is a division of Cook Medical, a provider of biomedical interventional devices.
