Slate Auto Expands Troy, Michigan, Headquarters Operations

05/21/2026
Electric vehicle manufacturer Slate Auto plans to expand its operations in Troy, Michigan. The $10.4 million project is expected to create 392 jobs.

The investment at the company’s North American headquarters will support electric vehicle development and will add corporate, engineering, and design positions.

“We thank Governor Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for supporting Slate’s growth in Michigan and acknowledging the importance of developing and producing affordable vehicles,” said Peter Faricy, CEO of Slate Auto. “Slate will benefit from the impressive talent pool and innovative ecosystem that has long been a tradition in the state of Michigan.”

To support the project, the Michigan Strategic Fund Board approved a $5 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant for the company’s expansion in Troy.

“Oakland County is thrilled that Slate Auto is expanding its EV headquarters in Troy, Michigan,” noted Oakland County Executive David Coulter. “Slate Auto is reinforcing our standing as a global epicenter for mobility and advanced technology. This growth creates high-quality engineering jobs and corporate opportunities, proving that our business climate is where world-class tech talent thrives.”

Slate devlops electric vehicles and related mobility technologies for consumer transportation markets. The company’s operations include vehicle design, engineering, manufacturing, and battery-powered mobility system development.
