Nonalcoholic beverage manufacturer Bittermilk Bottling Co. plans to expand its operations in Charleston County, South Carolina. The $8.2 million project is expected to create 12 jobs.

The investment will include the relocation to a 12,000-square-foot facility located at 5340 Savannah Highway. Production is scheduled to begin in Summer 2026.

“We’re proud to continue growing Bittermilk in Charleston County, where our business began and where we’ve built strong roots over the past two decades,” said Joe and MariElena Raya, owners and co-founders of Bittermilk. “It’s an honor to keep building our future here while continuing to make high-quality, American-made products.”

Bittermilk Bottling Co. produces bottled cocktail mixers and related drink products for retail and hospitality markets. The company’s operations include recipe development, bottling, packaging, and distribution of beverage mixers.

“Congratulations to Bittermilk on expanding its manufacturing operations in the Lowcountry,” noted South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III. “With an investment of $8.2 million in Charleston County, the company is strengthening South Carolina’s economic development landscape.”

“Bittermilk’s expansion is a powerful example of how strategic planning for long-term growth defines Charleston County's economic success,” added Merle Johnson, Economic Development Director for Charleston County. “This project strengthens our local talent pipeline, expands opportunities for workforce advancement, and strengthens quality of place experience for residents.”
