China Steelmaker Building Mississippi Plant

Armory, Mississippi is the site Anshan Iron & Steel Group, China's fourth-largest steelmaker, has chosen as the home for its reinforcing bar plant with Steel Development Co.

It's the first investment by a Chinese company in a U.S. mill. Anshan aims to develop steelmaking technology using scrap steel rather than iron ore.

According to a BusinessWeek report, the Amory steel project has finished infrastructure expansion and has received state environmental approval.
