05/02/2026
The company’s new FutureNow Chicago delivery center, located in the Quantum Works building at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP), will support artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and quantum technologies while serving as a hub for client solutions and workforce development.
“IBM is pleased to partner with the Governor to further the state's technology and innovation ecosystem,” said Arvind Krishna, Chairman and CEO of IBM. “IBM’s FutureNow Chicago delivery center will support new jobs, expand our delivery capabilities, and help build the future of technology talent.”
To support the project, the State of Illinois entered into an Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) agreement with IBM, tied to job creation and long-term capital investment.
“By connecting residents to hands-on training and careers in cutting-edge industries, we are building a workforce ready for the future,” noted Kristin Richards, Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
IBM provides software, hardware, and consulting services for enterprise and government clients, focusing on hybrid cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and IT infrastructure solutions. The company’s operations include research, product development, systems integration, and technology services.
“Illinois’ long-term competitiveness depends on our ability to develop and connect talent to future industries,” added Christy George, President and CEO of the Illinois Economic Development Corporation. “This initiative expands access to high-quality jobs while strengthening our technology workforce.”
“The IQMP’s mission is to advance quantum technology and create accessible career pathways,” said Harley Johnson, CEO of the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park. “This project will help ensure local communities are part of the next generation of innovation.”
