Laserflex Invests $4 Million To Expand Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Production Plant
09/24/2013
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Laserflex will expand its South Carolina operations by moving to a new, 63,000-square-foot building in Wellford, South Carolina, which will increase the company’s manufacturing space by 23,000 square feet. The expansion will allow Laserflex to add a range of new operations, including machining, paint and laser tube cutting. The company will begin hiring certified welders, machinists and laser operators starting in the fourth quarter.
“We’re pleased with the opportunity to expand our South Carolina operations,” said Gene White, Vice President and general manager of Laserflex. “Laserflex has seen increasing demand from our customers, and this expansion will help us meet that demand. Spartanburg has provided us with an excellent business environment over the years. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials.”
“While we work hard everyday to recruit new companies to South Carolina, it’s exciting to see one of our existing businesses choose to expand its footprint here,” said Gov. Nikki Haley. “We celebrate Laserflex’s decision to invest $4 million and create 20 new jobs. Today’s announcement is another indication our economic development efforts are on the right track.”
“Advanced manufacturing continues to be a growing sector of South Carolina’s economy, and today’s announcement by Laserflex builds on that,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “Every one of these new jobs will have an impact in Spartanburg County and we appreciate Laserflex’s continued commitment to the Palmetto State.” As an incentive the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits.
“We are pleased Laserflex, a long-time corporate citizen of Spartanburg County, is diversifying and growing their operation here,” said Russ Weber, Chairman of Spartanburg Economic Futures Group Board of Directors and President of Integral Solutions Group. “We are always excited when existing companies grow, verifying Spartanburg County as an excellent location to do business. We appreciate their continued commitment to our corporate community and their ongoing investment of operations and job opportunities.”
