UFP Packaging Plans Gaffney, South Carolina, Manufacturing Operations

Industrial packaging solutions provider UFP Packaging plans to establish operations in Gaffney, South Carolina. The $5.31 million project is expected to create 136 jobs in Cherokee County.

The company’s new manufacturing facility, located at 50 Peachview Blvd., will produce wood packaging products. Operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.

“This investment gives our Structural Packaging business added capacity, expanded geographic reach and enhanced ability to deliver highly customized solutions that help customers solve difficult packaging and logistics challenges. It also gives us the opportunity to build a team the UFP way — by developing people, promoting from within and creating careers that last. South Carolina’s strong manufacturing base, skilled workforce and values-driven business environment make it the right fit for our company and our culture,” said UFP Industries President and CEO Will Schwartz.

To support the project, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits.

“As a leader in the packaging industry, we welcome UFP Packaging to Cherokee County. The company’s investment and new job creation will support ongoing economic development efforts in rural South Carolina,” noted Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III.

UFP Packaging, a subsidiary of UFP Industries, designs and manufactures industrial packaging solutions, including wood pallets and crates, corrugated boxes, structural steel packaging and horticulture racks.

“Packaging solutions and horticulture equipment are essential parts of the agribusiness industry, so having UFP Packaging expand its South Carolina presence is great news for our farmers. I thank the company for their commitment to our state,” added Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers.
