American Woodmark Corporation Consolidates Headquarters In Frederick County, Virginia
12/03/2016
Cary Dunston, President & CEO, said, “at American Woodmark, we truly believe we differentiate ourselves in all we do based on our people and the incredible culture we have built. As part of our 2019 Vision, we have challenged ourselves to take our culture to the next level. As such, I am extremely excited that we will be creating a central corporate office, consolidating four facilities within the Winchester area. By bringing our employees together at one location, we will further strengthen our interpersonal connections, drive efficiency in our day-to-day interactions and greatly enhance our ability to move our culture towards our vision.”
Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Frederick County to secure the project for Virginia. Governor McAuliffe approved a $550,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist the County with the project. The company qualifies for road access funding from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
“Ensuring companies like American Woodmark Corporation, that are central to the economic strength of a region, have the resources and support to thrive is a top priority for my administration,” said Governor Terry McAuliffe. “I congratulate American Woodmark on their headquarters consolidation and commend their decision to stay in Frederick County, retaining 377 valuable jobs and adding 55 more. The company’s success is a testament to the skilled labor and strong business climate of the region, and we will continue to invest in advanced manufacturing, as it is central to diversifying and building a new Virginia economy.”
“American Woodmark established its headquarters in Virginia over 35 years ago, and is a strong example of the success manufacturers can achieve in the Commonwealth,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Todd Haymore. “With more than 5,500 advanced manufacturing companies in Virginia, supporting existing businesses in this booming sector is essential to growing the new Virginia economy. We look forward to our continued partnership with American Woodmark Corporation as the company grows in the Commonwealth.”
“Frederick County is recognized as a great location for business and careers because of companies like American Woodmark,” said Charles S. DeHaven, Jr., Chair of the Frederick County Board of Supervisors. “Retaining these valuable jobs and bringing further opportunities for Frederick County residents was an important consideration in competing for this project. We’re pleased our relationship with American Woodmark will continue for years to come.”
“I am excited that American Woodmark has chosen to consolidate their operations in the Winchester/Frederick County area,” said Delegate Christopher Collins. “This is a testament to the pro-business environment within the Shenandoah Valley and especially the Winchester/Frederick County community. Attracting businesses to the area has been and continues to be a priority for me in representing the 29th District and this investment is just another great step forward in making the top of Virginia a place to do business. I look forward to working with American Woodmark in further business endeavors in the area.”
