Two Islip, New York, Manufacturing Firms Plan Expansion Projects

A firm that develops optical equipment, Carson Optical, plans to invest approximately $3 million to relocate its production facility from Hauppauge to a 50,600-square-foot facility on a 3.62 parcel of land in the hamlet of Ronkonkoma, Town of Islip, New York.
According to Islip Industrial Development Agency, the firm plans to renovate its newly acquired facility and add engineering equipment, a vertical machining center and optical equipment.
In addition, the Islip Industrial Development Agency also plans to assist M&M Canvas and Awnings with its $2 million investment to acquire a 20,000 square foot building, on 1.27 acres, at 180 Oval Drive, in the Islip hamlet of Islandia. The firm plans to use a portion of the funds to acquire welding and heat sealing equipment to manufacture commercial and residential awnings and canvas equipment.
Islip IDA officials preliminarily approved a10-year property tax abatement and additional tax exemptions for both projects.
