Google Plans Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Data Center

Google plans to establish data center operations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The $576 million project is expected to create 31 jobs.

The new data will be located in the Big Cedar Industrial Center along 76th Ave. and Edgewood Road SW.

"This is unprecedented growth for Cedar Rapids. This project is, I believe, a result of the tremendous momentum we're seeing, and is really just the latest in what I hope is just going to be a series of really exciting projects," said Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell. "This is a very strategic decision, and a strategic investment, we believe that we have, as a city, have made for our future."

The project is being supported by conditional incentives including a 20-year, 70% tax exemption through the State High Quality Jobs Program (HQJP), with Tax Increment Financing rebates available if the HQJ application is not approved.
