K & M Tire Invests $3 Million In Lawrence, Kansas, Warehouse Distribution Center
08/01/2012
From a centralized location between Topeka and Kansas City on Interstate 70, K&M Tire will deliver passenger, light truck, commercial truck, farm and utility tires to tire retailers in Kansas and Missouri. "We anticipate this new location will grow to be one of our highest sales volume warehouses west of the Mississippi," said Cheryl Gossard, vice president of K&M Tire. "Several of our tire manufacturers have stepped up to show their support of our decision to move into this area."
Ohio-based K&M Tire operates 12 warehouses in 10 states servicing customers in more than 20 states from Ohio to Kansas. It's newest facility in Lawrence, Kansas, is located at 3801 Greenway Circle. The company distributes 19 brands of passenger and light truck tires, seven brands of commercial truck tires, and eight brands of farm and utility tires.
While information on incentives provided for relocation or job training was not available, Commerce Secretary Pat George said, "I want to welcome K&M Tire to Kansas. K&M started as two-bay gas station in 1970s, and today it has grown to have multiple operations in 10 states. I'm excited that Kansas could provide the right business environment to accommodate the company's future expansion and job growth."
"Due to our region's central location, low costs and transportation assets, the Kansas City area is an ideal location for K&M Tire to grow and succeed," said Bob Marcusse, president and CEO of the Kansas City Area Development Council, which works to attract business and industry to an 18-county metro region.
