GE Vernova Expands Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Operations

08/18/2025
Energy company GE Vernova plans to expand its operations in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. The up to $100 million project is expected to create 250 jobs.

The investment at the company’s existing grid solutions facility will include new production equipment to help manufacture more high voltage switchgear products.

“Powering the grid is at the core of powering America’s economy,” said Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova. “These new jobs and investment reflect our ongoing commitment to not only building critical grid infrastructure with American workers, but reindustrializing Pennsylvania’s proud manufacturing legacy. They will also help strengthen our domestic supply chain, improve national security, and boost global competitiveness by closing a crucial gap. We are investing in Charleroi and our advanced grid technology because it complements the investments we've made in power generation.”

GE Vernova includes Power, Wind, and Electrification segments, supported by its accelerator businesses. The company aims to help customers power economies and deliver reliable electricity while simultaneously working to reduce carbon emissions.

“GE Vernona’s decision to invest millions in its Charleroi facility is welcome news for the Mon Valley. It is impactful because it will create 250 jobs for our area and demonstrates the economic potential of the Mon Valley region,” noted Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Kotula. “It is also transformational as it positions the facility to manufacture more high voltage switchgear products that will be essential to maintaining power demands for our electric grid and will seize new opportunities in AI and advanced technologies made right here in the Mon Valley."
