Cooper Container II and Welch Packaging Expands Lexington, Tennessee, Manufacturing Center

Cooper Container II and Welch Packaging officials reportedly will make a significant investment to expand its operations in Lexington, Tennessee. The corrugated packaging producer and foam converting company will create approximately 40 jobs in Henderson County over the next 3 years.

The company will add 100,000 square feet to its existing Lexington manufacturing facility. Cooper Conta. The investment will increase capacity at the facility, which has multiple converting machines and specialty equipment. Work on the expansion is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2018. Cooper Container II anticipates the first phase of the new expansion will be operational in January 2019.

Cooper Container Corporation II was founded in 1997 by A.C. Cooper with the acquisition of Kirby Containers. In early 2018, Cooper Container II joined the Welch Packaging family of companies. Headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana, Welch Packaging has 12 regional manufacturing locations, four distribution centers in seven states throughout the Midwest, and more than 1,000 employees.
