Aircraft Manufacturer Spreading Wings in Georgia

Cessna Aircraft Company has broken ground on a new $24 million facility in Columbus, Georgia, that is expected to add 150 new jobs in the region over the next five years, according to the Georgia governor's office. The 100,000-square-foot plant, located on a 40-acre site in the Muscogee Technology Park, will produce aircraft sub-assemblies and house a metal bonding shop. The company expects to complete the new facility during the summer of 2008. The company currently has more than 600 employees in the Columbus area. "The strength of the work force and the business climate in Muscogee County provides a terrific environment in which to grow our business," says Ron Alberti, Cessna's senior vice president, supply chain.
