12/02/2024
HVAC equipment manufacturer AAON, Inc. plans to establish production operations in Memphis, Tennessee. The $238 million project is expected to create 828 jobs over the next five years.

The investment will include the purchase of a 787,000-square-foot facility, located on Tradeport Drive off of East Holmes Road, which will manufacture thermal management equipment for data centers under the BASX brand. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2025.

"The expansion of our production capacity through the purchase of this new facility marks a new chapter for AAON," said Gary Fields, AAON CEO, "Not only will this allow us to continue to capitalize on the rapidly growing data center market, it demonstrates the commitment we have to our data center customers and the confidence we have in the vertical strategy of this market. At the same time, we are thrilled to bring new jobs and investment to the Memphis community and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on both our company and the local economy."

AAON, Inc. manufactures heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for commercial and industrial indoor environments. The company currently operates in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Oregon.

“With easy access to water, rail, interstate and an international airport, Memphis is primed to support AAON’s expansion by strengthening the company’s reach to its global markets. I thank AAON for its significant investment in Shelby County and look forward to seeing how this project brings new life to the American Snuff facility, one of Tennessee’s historic buildings,” noted TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter.

"Memphis is gaining recognition for its speed and agility in attracting businesses. Paired with our diverse workforce and manufacturing talent, Memphis is America's newest high-tech hub—the Digital Delta," added Ted Townsend, President & CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber, "AAON embodies a new chapter for Memphis. As a dynamic, high job-creation company with a focus on data centers, we are proud to welcome them to the Digital Delta."
