Satellite Industries Invests $6.9 Million To Establish Manufacturing And Operations Center In Bristol, Indiana
02/07/2014
The company, which has European headquarters in Belgium, will invest $6.9 million over a number of years to establish its distribution and manufacturing operations in Indiana. Expanding its operations in two phases, the first phase will consist of leasing and equipping a 13,000 square-foot facility in Elkhart. For the second phase of expansion, Satellite will construct and equip a 106,000 square-foot manufacturing facility on a 22-acre campus in Bristol. Upon completion the firm will move all central distribution operations to this Bristol location. Satellite will begin hiring warehouse management, assembly, warehouse and office administration positions this spring.
“Indiana has always attracted us due to its central location to a majority of the U.S. population, easy access off main interstates, a manufacturing oriented workforce and competitive wages and tax incentives,” said John Babcock, Chief Financial Officer of Satellite. “The specific location we selected is in the heart of the RV and trailer manufacturing, which compliments the product lines that we manufacture.”
Gov. Mike Pence said, "Indiana remains a manufacturing powerhouse, with more manufacturing jobs as a portion of our private sector than any other state. International companies like Satellite have a world of choices. Yet, they continue to choose Indiana for growth, where they find a low cost of doing business and a highly skilled workforce right here at the crossroads of America."
As an incentive, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Satellite Industries, Inc. up to $675,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The town of Bristol approved additional tax abatement at the request of the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County.
