Macerata Wheels Invests $8 Million To Manufacture Custom Wheels And Accessories In Danville, Virginia
03/19/2013
The firm plans to manufacture custom wheel rims and other automobile accessories domestically, rather than depend on imported items from China. The market for custom wheels has experienced steady growth over the last few decades, said Mike Farless, president of Macerata Wheels. Making items in the US will also eliminate the time it takes to import items from China, and enable the firm to deliver its products to customers with a quicker turnaround.
Incentives to attract the firm to Danville included the ability to train employees at Danville Community College’s Precision Machining Lab, an offer to by the local Industrial Development Authority to provide a warehouse facility through a lease purchase agreement, and a $600,000 grant from the state Tobacco Commission.
