CommScope Eliminates 400 Nebraska Jobs

03/31/2010
CommScope Inc. announced today that it will close its Omaha, Nebraska facility, eliminating 400 manufacturing jobs. The plant, which operates as a Connectivity Solutions Manufacturing Inc. subsidiary, produces parts for cable networks. It is relocating those operations to other sites in the U.S.

CommScope President and CEO Eddie Edwards attributed the closure to poor economic conditions. The company estimated that the restructuring will cost $45 million to $53 million, but will ultimately save $18 million to $22 million annually. Seventy workers that perform corporate jobs will be moved to a new location in Omaha.
