Motorola Solutions Expands Salt Lake County, Utah, Operations

05/18/2026
Communications technology company Motorola Solutions plans to expand its operations in Salt Lake County, Utah.

The project will allow the company to increase manufacturing capacity for its Silvus Technologies division, supporting advanced tactical networking solutions used in military and public safety applications.

“Today’s announcement represents an exciting milestone for our company,” said Jack Molloy, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Motorola Solutions. “Utah’s strong business climate provides an ideal environment for us to confidently expand our operations for Silvus Technologies and meet the growing demand for mission-critical communication solutions from our defense and public safety customers.”

To support the project, Motorola Solutions was awarded a post-performance tax reduction through Utah’s Economic Development Tax Increment Financing program.

“We see an ideal opportunity in this expansion,” noted Ben Hart, Executive Director of the Utah Inland Port Authority. “As Utah’s economy grows, logistics demands grow, and it’s imperative that we as a state come together to sustainably support this momentum in our supply chain. Motorola’s commitment to scaling in Salt Lake County further establishes Utah as a pivotal hub in global industry.”

Silvus Technologies develops wireless networking technologies for military, public safety, and industrial applications. The company specializes in mobile ad hoc network systems used for secure communications in demanding environments.

“This expansion is a textbook example of our strategic framework for economic development in action,” added Jefferson Moss, Commissioner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “We are proud to support Motorola Solutions’ continued growth that reinforces Utah’s rapid emergence as a premier destination for information technology, aerospace and defense, and advanced manufacturing industries.”
