Con-way Freight Invests $8 Million In Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Freight Service Facility
07/16/2014
The facility, with 96 dock doors that can be expanded to 120, will serve as the local hub from which the company will provide daily freight pickup and delivery services to businesses throughout the greater Fond du Lac metropolitan region and surrounding communities.
The facility, which boasts 6,550 square feet of office space and on-site truck fueling, provides the company with the capacity to move in excess of 1.6 million pounds of freight per day. With the expanded operation, Con-way Freight has increased its local service resources in Fond du Lac from 18 to 50 truck/tractors and from 65 to 160 freight trailers.
The freight facility has more than 100 employees in jobs such as driver sales representatives, operations support, sales, customer service and administration. The service center also provides additional capacity and operating efficiencies, as it allows for the consolidation of smaller service center facilities previously located in Fond du Lac, Sheboygan and Neenah. The opening of the new center has created nearly 60 additional jobs for the community.
"This is a significant investment for Con-way Freight that reinforces our commitment to providing Wisconsin businesses with superior freight service for more than 30 years," said John McCutcheon, Director of Operations, Milwaukee region, for Con-way Freight. "The increased capacity and additional jobs here in Fond du Lac will help us better serve the needs of the community, while enabling us to grow with our customers and continue delivering the industry's fastest, most reliable and consistent quality service."
"We are thrilled to welcome Con-way Freight and its expanded operations to Fond du Lac," said Sam Meyer, president, Fond du Lac City Council. "We look forward to a long and rewarding collaboration with one of the nation's premier trucking companies and we thank them for their efforts to support growth in our community and the vitality of our local, regional and state economies."
"Con-way Freight's location in Fox Ridge Business Park adds another stellar company to the county's economic base," said Allen Buechel, Fond du Lac County Executive. "Fond du Lac continues to be a place for premier companies like Con-way and we welcome them to our community."
"It was a pleasure working with Con-way from the earliest stages of the site search," stated Steve Jenkins, president of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation. "Con-way Freight's location in Fond du Lac is a testament to our strategic location and will be an asset to Fond du Lac County businesses."
According to the firm, Key partners in its expansion project included; the developer, Setzer Properties LLC; general contractor, Design Structures LLC; civil engineer, Kory D Anders of General Engineering Company and architect, Bill Thomas Designs.
